About Run Club...

Run Club is an enrichment program for all fitness levels. Traditional running games and drills are transformed into powerful life lessons. When you are with LYTE Run Club, you are getting a great workout AND building strength of character.

Every child is able to compete and reach the goals they once thought were beyond them. We have worked with hundreds of children of all fitness levels, and have learned fun and active tools to harness self confidence. We have found that the eight core empowerment principles we selected together create a unique and powerful curriculum. One which combines physical health with strength of character.

At LYTE Run Club, we do not believe in the participation trophy culture.

Children receive LYTE merchandise for participating, but they must EARN additional goodies that are handed out during the session . Each class a new goal is set, and children feel part of a team as they work towards reaching that goal. We will give plenty of second chances, but we will not give LYTE goodies to avoid tears.

We teach children how to handle disappointment and use it as fuel to achieve what is really important to them. When they finally do earn LYTE incentives, it will be worth more than gold.

The 8 Core Empowerment Principles of Run Club

Power Words

How we talk about ourselves defines who we are.

Positive Thoughts

We are what we think.

Agressive Goals

We dare to believe anything is possible.

Personal Resilience

Setbacks are welcome as an opportunity to grow.

Teamwork

We can do together what we cannot do alone.

Individual Integrity

We do the right thing even when no one is watching.

Community Vision

We exist in relation to others.

New Beginnings

A finish line is just the beginning of a new journey.

Meet the Team

Our Coaches have the passion to empower our LYTEs and give them the encouragement they need to do hard things!

LEAD EMPOWERMENT

COACH & FOUNDER

Coach Leah is a mother of one awesome kiddo. She currently serves in the DC Air National Guard and has a passion to serve her Country and Community. She is the youngest of three children and was born and raised in Washington State by a lovely mother she admires and looks up to.

Throughout her adolescent years she played many sports and was a two sport high school standout. Playing varsity sports as a Freshman in high school she learned many leadership and follower-ship skills that prove beneficial in her adult years.

She has volunteered in her community since the age of 17 holding roles such as: Community Accountability Board member for juvenile courts, volunteer coach for youth basketball, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor, feed the homeless programs, Youth Mentor with Northern Virginia Family Services, and certified Foster Parent.

She started LYTE Run Club to continue her passion to serve and influence our future leaders. She believes that self love, cultural sensitivity, self motivation, and mentorship shape children into great leaders.

Coach Leah understands that children do not like to lose. I mean really who does? Teaching them that it is okay to lose and what matters is how you handle the loss. Resilience after a loss is where the growth really happens. She also believes that participation accolades do not serve our youth any justice; understanding what it takes to earn success and working hard for what you want is the way to go. Believing in yourself and setting aggressive goals is the start to great beginnings for our youth.

Coach Jessica

Coach Jessica currently works as an attorney and loves to be involved in her community in her free time. She currently sits on the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce as a Board Member and volunteers with the Anne Arundel County Bar Association and Maryland Attorney Grievance Peer Review Committee.

Throughout her childhood, Jessica was an avid swimmer and soccer player, and worked as a lifeguard and swim coach. Despite her love for sports, she didn’t find her passion for running until many years later, in law school. With the stress of moving to a new state, not knowing anyone and the constant pressure of law school, she – on a whim – decided to join a running group. From there, she was hooked.

After joining her first running club, Coach Jessica progressed – racing 5Ks then 10Ks and eventually 10 milers to half marathons. Running continues to help her manage the stress of daily life and builds a stronger sense of self, confidence and accomplishment.

Coach Jessica expanded her coaching experience when she went on to coach a 5K/10K running group in Annapolis. Her passion to pass along the fun, joy and adrenaline that is created in the running community continues to grow. Being able to share her love for running and the outdoors is something that Coach Jessica strives to accomplish, especially in our youth.

It is important to pass along the healthy practices of movement, friendship, and friendly competition to help our youth find their joy in running and build their confidence. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are key to helping build strong individuals, and it all starts with our youth.

Coach Keisha

Coach Keisha is the mom to one amazing daughter. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY where most of her family still resides. In her leisure, she enjoys DIY projects around the house and spending time with family and friends.

She is currently a school counselor for a local school district. She has well over fifteen years of experience working with young people from all ages and backgrounds.

Growing up, she was the one who her cousins and friends would come to for advice and words of wisdom. She takes great pride in supporting people in accomplishing their goals. At an early age she learned to work hard for what she wants and the importance of being a lifelong learner.

She believes that all great things begin with thoughts that occur in our minds. Therefore, it’s important to speak positive affirmations daily and have supportive, encouraging people around you. She believes that one of the greatest gifts in life is to empower young people to reach their fullest potential.

Coach Jessica

Coach Jessica recently moved to Germany to accompany her Army Husband and family. As a Veteran owned business, we understand the commitment as a spouse and will be waiting for her to return back to Maryland.

Safe travels Coach. We will miss you
